I love to create fun cakes for children. They have no idea how much time that is put into a custom cake, so it’s actually a nice change of pace to watch somebody appreciate a cake, solely for the magic properties a cake can create!
Like a story book or drawing pictures, a cake can make a character or theme come to life with that of a fun imagination!

My mom used to make us fun cakes as kids, and the one I remember most was a Teddy Bear Ballerina, complete with a pink tutu. That was for my 4th birthday and YES I remember my birthday cake that long ago. When you present something that special to a child, it is not only a cake that will be cut up and devoured, but also a fun memory, right down to the last bit of frosting on their little fingers!

That’s where I come in. When a parent requests a custom birthday cake for their child, I try to compile ideas that a child would appreciate, details that children will recognize and love from their favorite TV show, sport, or character, not just what pleases my eyes.

However, this particular cake, I put some details in the hands of my Ayden, who is four. He LOVES Paw Patrol. I told him that I was making a smaller cake and there was only room for the pup, Everest, otherwise his imagination would have ran to the wildest destination! With that being said, Ayden, very seriously, took a couple minutes and thought hard. His response was that the cake had to have snow and clouds in the sky. Then, he took to a coloring book for further inspiration and decided the cake would also need mountains.

Yep. That is exactly what I did. An Everest cake, complete with snowflakes, clouds, snowcapped mountains, and a pup badge for the birthday girl! Thanks, Ayden!
